In the world of imaginative play, few toys spark creativity and fun quite like play kitchens. Whether your little one is whipping up a gourmet meal or hosting a make-believe tea party, a play kitchen offers endless opportunities for role-playing and skill development. But with so many options on the market, finding the perfect play kitchen can be a daunting task. Fear not! In this comprehensive guide, we'll delve into the various aspects to consider when choosing the best play kitchen for your child, from materials and styles to sizes and features.

Materials

When it comes to play kitchens, durability and safety are paramount. Here are some common materials used in their construction:

  1. Wood: Play kitchens crafted from wood exude timeless elegance and sturdiness. Milton & Goose manufactures their play kitchens with the help of expert Amish woodworkers using maple veneered plywood for the box construction and solid maple doors. This is the same construction used for high end kitchens. Among the many wood choices, maple is the best as a substrate for wooden kitchen that are painted, rather than stained. Unlike other types of wood, maple offers a smooth surface with minimal grain that makes it possible to achieve a perfect painted finish. That's why this is the material of choice for high end kitchens as well.  SHOP wooden play kitchens
  2. MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard): MDF play kitchens offer the look of wood at a lower cost. Unlike wood which can be stained or left unfinished, MDF kitchens must be painted to cover exposed edges. With MDF, some chipping is to be expected. Care should be taken in case of water spills, as MDF may absorbs water and cause the finish to peel. Generally, MDF play kitchens are expected to be a bit less durable than solid wooden kitchens, but still an absolutely fine choice!
  3. Plastic: Plastic play kitchens are lightweight and generally much cheaper than MDF or solid wood. We don't sell plastic play kitchens because they don't fit in with our brand vision.
